74th Democracy Day today

February 19, Kathmandu: The 74th Democracy Day is being celebrated across the country on Monday by organizing various programs.
The day is observed in commemoration of the 7th Falgun, 2007 BS when democracy was established in Nepal after the end of the 104-year-old autocratic Rana rule.
As a result of the struggle and sacrifices of the Nepali people, the Rana regime ended on Falgun 7, 2007 B.S. beginning a new era of democracy.
Shukraraj Shastri, Gangalal Shrestha, Dasharath Chand, Dharmabhakta Mathema and others sacrificed their lives to liberate Nepalis from autocratic rule.
A special ceremony is being held at Tundikhel in the federal capital on Monday in the presence of the President, the Vice President, the Prime Minister, and other dignitaries.
Every year, Falgun 7 of the Nepali calendar is commemorated as the National Democracy Day in Nepal.
