Final voter list for National Assembly election released

January 8, Kathmandu: The Election Commission (EC) of Nepal has released the final list of voters for the upcoming National Assembly election. The list includes 549 voters from seven provincial assemblies and 1,498 voters from local levels which include chiefs and deputy chiefs of metropolitan cities, sub-metropolitan cities, municipalities, and rural municipalities.

Each vote from the provincial assembly member carries a weightage of 53 votes, similarly, a vote from the local level chief/deputy chief carries a weightage of 19 votes. This results in a total vote weightage of 29,097 from the province assemblies and 28,462 from the local levels.

Here’s a breakdown of the voters and their vote weightage by province:

  • Koshi Province: 93 voters from the province assembly and 377 voters from local levels (rural municipality chair, vice chairs, mayors, and deputy mayors combined).
  • Madhesh Province: 107 voters from the province assembly and 267 voters from local levels. The total vote weightage is 5,571 from the province assembly and 5,073 from local levels.
  • Bagmati Province: 110 voters from the province assembly and 237 voters from local levels. The total vote weightage is 10,333.
  • Gandaki Province: The total number of voters is 230 with a total vote weightage of 6,4101.
  • Lumbini Province: 87 voters from the province assembly and 218 voters from local levels. The total vote weightage is 8,753.
  • Karnali Province: 40 voters from the province assembly and 156 voters from local levels. The total vote weightage is 5,084.
  • Sudurpaschim Province: 52 voters from the province assembly and 173 voters from local levels. The total vote weightage is 6,100.
