Curfew in Nepalgunj lifted after a week

October 10, Nepalgunj: The District Administration Office, Banke, has lifted the curfew and prohibition order in Nepalgunj.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer Topendra Bahadur KC, the district administration office decided to remove the curfew bearing in mind the situation improved of late in the town.

The situation has presently turned to normalcy, he added.

The District Administration Office, Banke issued a curfew order in Nepalgunj last Tuesday with the development of social unrest in the town.

The curfew was issued on October 3 following religious unrest that was reportedly caused due to social media post.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Narayan Dangi, said passengers’ help desks had been established at the bus parks in Kohalpur and Nepalgunj.

Similarly, this type of facility has been set up along the Jamunah checkpoint for the convenience of Nepali returning home from India for festivals. Police surveillance has been intensified along the bus park areas and up to the nearby railway stations in India with the mobilization of police in plain clothes to prevent any fraudulent attempts targeting passengers.
