Rishi Panchami being observed today

Kathmandu: Hindu women across the nation are observing the rites associated with the Rishipanchami festival today. The festival is the day that the Teej festival comes to an end.

Hindu ladies mark this festival with the respect and reverence it deserves by fasting and paying tribute to the Saptarishis in the hope of receiving blessings and being absolved of all perceived misdeeds.

On the day of the celebration, participants get up early, travel to a river, stream, pond, or lake nearby, and perform ritualized bathing there.
