Children’s song competition: Gamvir Samudra Setu Secondary School’s Anamol Sewa wins first prize

Kathmandu: A children’s song competition has been jointly organized by Radio Nepal and Nepal Children’s Organization on the occasion of the 59th Children Day.

Lalitpur-based Gamvir Samudra Setu Secondary School’s Anamol Sewa won the first prize in the competition.

In the same competition, Rajesh Pariyar from Himalaya English School in Sunsari won the second place and the group of Yarina, Arohana, Sayana and Kabya Bohora from The Rising Star Boarding School in Kathmandu won the third place.

Kathmandu’s Laboratory School and Timeline School got the consolation place.

In the competition held today at the Bal Mandir premises at Naxal, Kathmandu, Laxman Chaulangain was chosen for the best music, and Surendra Mukhiya was chosen for the best composition.

20 groups from different schools selected from the 42 groups that applied from the selection stage on Bhadra 26 participated in the competition.

While inaugurating the competition, former Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki said that song and music is an excellent medium for learning.

He said that song and music should be linked with the current education system.

On the occasion, executive director of Radio Nepal, Buddhi Bahadur KC, said that since its inception, Radio Nepal has been producing and broadcasting programs with children as a top priority.

Vidya Upadhyaya Neupane, the central president of Nepal Children’s Organization, said that such song contests would be useful for increasing the awareness and awakening of children.

Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Naradmuni Hartamchhali, said that if the investment in children’s sector could be increased, the good manpower needed by the country would be produced in the future.
