Open Savate Competition held for the first time in Nepal

Kathmandu: Nepal Savate Association and Taekwondo ITF Nepal jointly organized the first Nepal Open Savate Tournament in Kathmandu.
Jointly organized by the Nepal Savate Association and Taekwondo ITF Nepal, the technical seminar was held on the 24-25 August. The first Nepal Open Savate competition was held on 26 August.

Savate originated around 300 years ago in France. In a seminar attended by 185 players and officials from Nepal, India and Iran Dr. HamidReza Hesaraki shared his knowledge about the technique, referee and judge of the Savate game.
International Secretary General Dr. HamidReza expressed his happiness that this game, which started this year in Nepal, has successfully organized an international seminar and competition in a short time.

He also congratulated the director of the seminar and competition the founding president of the Nepal Savate Association Master Laxman Basnet and all the players and officials in the future as well.
He expressed the promise of continuous support for the development of the game.
India managed to win 2 gold, and 1 silver in the competition for a total of 24 gold, 24 silver and 48 Bronze medals in women’s 8 weight groups and men’s 16 weight groups, while the rest of the medals were won by Nepali athletes.
In the competition, Sohil Gole was declared the best player in the men’s competition, while Akriti Gurung was declared the best player in the women’s competition.

Dr. HamidReza Hesaraki, the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony of the competition held at Dhanyanthari Badminton Hall in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu feliciated Sasman Basnet and team leader Dadhiram Kadel, who won the bronze medal and silver medal respectively in the under 85 kg weight group in the 4th Asian and 2nd International Open Meet held in Uzbekistan from May 5th to 10th for successfully bringing home the first international medal for Nepal. They were honoured with a letter of appreciation.
On behalf of the Nepal Savate Association, founder president Master Laxman Basnet honoured Hamid Reza international coach Korush Rafela with a letter of appreciation and a token of love.

Also, through this seminar and competition, 4 athletes from Nepal, two women and two men, have been selected to participate in the World Combat Games to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from October 20 to 30.
About 2,500 players from 80 countries will participate in 16 martial arts games.
