Landslide claims two lives in Makawanpur, five missing

August 9, Kathmandu: In the wake of incessant rainfall, a landslide occurred in the Makwanpur district on Tuesday, resulting in two casualties and five individuals reported missing.

The victims have been identified as Santa Maya Sotang (55) and Sila Pahari (22), both from Sikredobhan in Bagmati rural municipality-5. Numerous landslides have also obstructed highways and roads across the nation, with monsoon-induced floods and landslides causing damages exceeding Rs 1.1 million.

Efforts to restore vehicular movement on affected routes are ongoing, while further updates on the situation are awaited amid ongoing rainfall and inundations in various areas.
