Mayor Shah warns of taking stern action

Kathmandu: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah, has today directed the schools in the metropolitan city to run teaching-learning activities regularly.

He also warned of sacking those teachers and staff, making obstacles in running regular classes at schools and remaining absent, from their posts as per the Kathmandu metropolitan Education Act.

The Nepal Public School Employees’ Council has announced the indefinite closure of community schools from June 18.

Mayor Shah mentioned that school management committees would also be dismissed if the committees do not take the initiatives to run the regular classes or if activities are carried out to obstruct the classes.

Mayor Shah took to social media to warn that the KMC would coordinate with Nepal Police and file criminal case against those involved in closing schools forcefully.
