Chitrakar and Dong honoured with Araniko prize
Kathmandu: The Araniko National Fine Arts Award for this year has been presented to artists Madan Chitrakar and Man Bahadur Dong respectively.
Likewise, the National Fine Arts Award in the contemporary art category has been presented to Uddhab Raj Rimal and Fine Arts Special Award to Rita Manandhar, Tisha Shrestha and Roshan Pradhan.
In the traditional category, National Fine Arts Award has been given to Rajprakashman Tuladhar and Fine Arts Special Award to Rabindra Maharjan and Taraman Bhomjan.
In architecture and other creative arts categories, Binay Rimal was honoured for substitution Art and Fine Arts Special Award went to Sushrina Shakya for Caricature, Sushanthree Rajbhandari for Emotional Art, Rajesh Manandhar for Cartoon and Saphal Prakash Shrestha for Photography.
Likewise, among various other awards distributed on the occasion of the National Fine Arts Exhibition-2080 organized on the occasion of the Republic Day on Monday, Fine Arts Regional Award was given to Suman Rai from Koshi, Shweta Sah from Madhes, Wanghu Moktan (RK) from Bagmati, Bishwambhar Basnet from Gandaki, Ramba Chaudhary from Lumbini, Sonam Lama from Karnali and Chakra Bahadur Thapa from Sudurpaschim Province.
The amount of the Araniko Award is Rs 100,000, while the amount of the National Fine Arts Award is Rs 60,000. Similarly, the fine arts special award and regional award carried a purse of Rs. 25,000.
During the inaugural session of the exhibition, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati presented honours and awards.
On the occasion, Sangeeta Thapa was honoured with an art promotion award while Anil Chitrakar was honoured as the goodwill ambassador of the National Fine Arts Exhibition-2080.
Meanwhile, RSS correspondent Narayan Dhungana was honoured with the National Fine Arts Journalism Award 2023 carrying a purse of Rs. 25,000.
