On Air Station:

India’s tiger population reach 3,167

April 9, Kathmandu: India’s tiger population reached a record high of 3,167 in 2022.

The data is as per the latest tiger census released in Karnataka by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The announcement is a cause for celebration as India marks 50 years of its tiger conservation project.

The numbers show a significant increase from the previous census in 2018, which reported 2,967 tigers.

The tiger population in India has almost doubled since 2006 when there were only 1,411 tigers.

Prime Minister Modi commended the country’s efforts in preserving the big cats and credited the tiger conservation project for the impressive rise in numbers. India is currently home to 70% of the world’s tigers.

This news is particularly important as tigers have been listed as an endangered species, and conservation efforts are crucial to their survival. The significant increase in the tiger population in India is a positive step towards preserving these magnificent creatures.
