Mamata Gurung wins first prize in vocal category of modern song competition
Kathmandu: Mamata Gurung of Kaski has bagged the first prize in the vocal category of the modern song competition held to mark the 73rd anniversary of Radio Nepal at Singh Durbar today.
In the category, Muna Thatal of Panchthar and Saroj Pariyar of Bhaktapur came second and third respectively.
In the modern song competition, Sweta Mainali was declared the best lyricist and Khadga Gandharba was awarded the best musician award.
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Communication Netra Prasad Subedi highlighted the importance of music in personal growth and peaceful life.
Likewise, Executive Director of Radio Nepal Budhhi Bahadur KC said Radio Nepal had been playing an instrumental role to preserve and promote Nepali music.
