Former Health Minister Shrestha passes away at 88

February 20, Kathmandu: Former Health Minister Prof Dr Mathura Prasad Shrestha passed away on Monday morning at the age of 88.

He was suffering from asthma and respiratory complications for a long time.

Shrestha died while undergoing treatment at Maitighar-based Annapurna Neuro Hospital, said Shrestha’s son, Dr Jaya Shrestha.

Civil rights activist Shrestha served as the Minister for Health after the democratic movement of 1990.

He is survived by six sons and a daughter. Shrestha’s last rites would be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on Tuesday.
