Rabi Lamichhane leads final vote tally by 34,162

Chitwan: Vote counting under the election to the Member of the House of Representatives has concluded in the Chitwan electoral constituency-2.

Rabi Lamichhane, the Chairman of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, is at the topmost of the counts tally with 49,261 votes. The formal announcement of the poll results is awaited. Lamichhane’s nearest competitor Umesh Shrestha, the candidate from the ruling parties’ alliance, secured 15,099. Lamichhane secured a win by a margin of 34,162 against Shrestha.

Likewise, CPN (UML)’s Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel obtained 14,649. The constituency recorded a 67.3 percent voter turnout in the voting for the twin elections held on last Sunday. Shrestha, the Minister of State at the Office of the Prime Minister has congratulated Lamichhane for his success. —
