Through the banks, the fallow and useless lands will be identified, documented and managed for agricultural production. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Such lands would be taken in lease and allowed for cultivation. For this, the landowners will receive certain profit as per contract to be made for lease. The lands to be leased would be given to landless people, smallholder farmers, Dalit and financially poor households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The soil banks facilitated for it. The local governments provide seeds, chemical fertilizers, technical aid and other grants to those cultivating such land. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on type of land\/soil quality, the government selects crops, vegetables and fruits. Even the fishery and livestock are raised at such property. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, Byas Municipality of Tanahu, Pancheshwor Rural Municipality of Baitadi, Fikkal Rural Municipality of Sindhuli, Rupa Rural Municipality of Kaski and Badimalika Municipality of Bajuraw were allowed for setting up soil banks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme is expected to ensure maximum use of land, boost agriculture production, create jobs and contribute to rural economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>RSS<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu: The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has permitted four more local governments to establish soil banks.
