Tehrathum, Oct 5:<\/strong> Aathrai Rural Municipality in Tehrathum has started a daily municipal bus service connecting Sakranti Bazaar with Phidim, the district headquarters of neighbouring Panchthar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The service came into operation from Saturday under the Municipal Bus Operation and Management Procedures 2083. The rural municipality had allocated Rs 6 million for the programme in the last fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The bus will run daily between Sakranti Bazaar, the administrative centre of Aathrai, and Phidim, covering a distance of around 35 kilometres. The fare has been fixed at Rs 200 per passenger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The service will be free for senior citizens aged above 70, children below five, and students. Persons with disabilities will receive a 50 percent discount, according to rural municipality spokesperson and Ward No. 6 Chairperson Krishna Prasad Baskota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The bus will leave Sakranti Bazaar at 8 am and depart Phidim for Aathrai at 3 pm every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rural Municipality Chair Dilkumar Pahim said the service is expected to make public transportation safer and more convenient for local residents.
