Kathmandu: <\/strong>Continuous rainfall since September 24 has disrupted traffic on 11 major highways and several other road sections across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Department of Roads, floods and landslides triggered by the persistent rainfall have blocked or affected several sections of major highways. The disruptions have particularly affected roads connecting Kathmandu with different parts of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prithvi Highway has been obstructed at several locations, including Krishnabhir, Chaukibhir, Jawangkhola and Fisling. The disruption has affected vehicles travelling to Kathmandu from various parts of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, several sections of the BP Highway have been affected. Traffic is obstructed at Mamti, Piple, Daunne-Kalopul, Charsayabesi, Katunje and Chaukidanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Department of Roads said traffic has been restricted both during the day and at night in areas identified as being at high risk due to continuous rainfall. Teams have been deployed to clear landslides and reopen the affected road sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traffic along the Kanti Highway has also been partially disrupted at Chapali and Takurche. However, the Makwanpur section has resumed operation after landslide debris was cleared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several sections of the Siddhicharan Highway are also blocked, including the Okhaldhunga-Salleri road and the area around Solukhola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, the Mid-Hill Highway has been obstructed along the Nisi Rural Municipality-Kanabagar section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kaligandaki Corridor has been affected at the Belbagar section in Jaimini Municipality-8. Road disruptions have also been reported along the Baglung-Beni Highway, particularly in the Myadi and Hulake areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Department, traffic has been obstructed at several points along the Tamor Corridor, including Chharuwakhola, Nawakhola and Ranigaun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rapti Highway has been blocked at the Kapurkot-Kharkhola section, while the Karnali Highway has been affected at Gagnekhola, Raka and near Hare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bhaluwang-Chakchake-Liwang road section has also been obstructed at several locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Department of Roads has urged motorists and passengers to exercise caution while travelling through areas affected by rainfall, floods and landslides. It said efforts are continuing to clear the affected sections and restore traffic wherever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities have also advised travellers to check road conditions before starting journeys, particularly as rainfall is expected to continue in several parts of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
