Khotang, Sept 22:<\/strong> A community health centre has been established and brought into operation in Sekhuwa, a remote settlement of Sakela Rural Municipality in Khotang district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The health centre began providing services from Monday, easing the difficulties faced by local residents who previously had to travel to distant locations for basic healthcare due to the area’s geographical remoteness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The newly established facility is the eighth community health unit set up by the rural municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rural Municipality Chairperson Rabin Prakash Rai inaugurated the health centre building at a function held on Monday. He said geographical remoteness should not deprive citizens of their right to access health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGeographical difficulty must not become a barrier to citizens’ right to health services. The state must ensure its presence in every part of the country,\u201d Rai said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said the establishment of the health centre had helped ensure people’s access to basic healthcare at the local level. Rai also stressed that development could not be achieved through the efforts of the local government and elected representatives alone, calling for greater public participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He urged local residents and people’s representatives to work together to advance development activities, noting that people could contribute through voluntary labour, land donations, knowledge and skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ward No. 1 Chairperson Heman Rai said the new facility had relieved residents of Sekhuwa from the need to travel long distances for treatment of common health problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, the local government honoured Adam Bahadur Rai, who donated land for the establishment of the health centre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Khotang, Sept 22: A community health centre has been established and brought into operation in Sekhuwa, a remote settlement of Sakela Rural Municipality in Khotang district.
