Kathmandu, Sept 15: Among those swept away by the devastating flash flood that struck the Rasuwa-Trishuli river system on August 26, bodies of 1,399 persons have been recovered so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the latest data shared by the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, among the retrieved bodies, 544 are of males, 336 of females, while 519 are partial remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abinarayan Kafle, however, said a total of 4,089 are in the official list of the missing persons in the floods. Among those who are reported to have remained missing since the disaster, 2,907 males, 572 females, 272 foreign males and 328 are foreign females.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The number of those injured in the flood and safely rescued stands at 9,287. As of now, 1,230 bodies have been managed following the DNA profiling for future evidence of identification. They have been inhumed safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 7,975 police persons have been mobilized for search, recue, distribution of humanitarian assistance and management of dead bodies in the affected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The emergency shelters established in various districts presently house 3,440 disaster survivors, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, eight people who were injured in the floods-related incidents are being treated at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to TUTH Spokesperson and senor neurosurgeon Dr Gopal Sedain, those undergoing treatment are Meen Bahadur Shrestha, Pabitra Karki, Pema Tamang, Rajendra Bhatta, Tej Bahadur Tamang, Maheshwor Shah, Nima Dorje Tamang and Chandika Shrestha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the injured ones brought to the hospital after their rescues, 69 returned home till this morning, it is said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
