{"id":435958,"date":"2026-09-14T14:24:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T08:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/?p=435958"},"modified":"2026-09-14T14:24:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T08:39:08","slug":"search-continues-for-missing-people-in-hydropower-tunnels-following-bhotekoshi-floods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/2026\/09\/14\/435958.html","title":{"rendered":"Search continues for missing people in hydropower tunnels following Bhotekoshi floods"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Rasuwa<\/strong>: The Nepali Army and foreign rescue teams are continuing the search for people missing inside tunnels and debris of hydropower projects in Rasuwa following the Bhotekoshi floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, the Nepali Army, and Indian and Australian expert teams are continuing search operations at several hydropower projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chinese, South Korean and UAE rescue teams have returned after completing their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The search has been challenging due to difficult terrain, frozen water, mud and large rocks inside the tunnels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the 22-megawatt Chilime Hydropower Project, 24 personnel, including 13 from the Nepali Army and 11 from India, are searching a tunnel where around 70 metres of debris needs to be cleared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Search operations are also continuing at the Upper Trishuli-1, Langtang, Trishuli-3A, Trishuli-3B and Rasuwagadhi hydropower projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said priority has been given to searches inside the tunnels, while preparations are also underway to search other debris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As search and rescue operations continue<strong>, <\/strong>13 hundred and 92 bodies have been recovered so far from the devastating Bhotekoshi floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Nepal Police, 12 hundred and 30 bodies have been managed after completing the necessary procedures, including DNA sampling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Details of 13 hundred and 54 unidentified bodies have also been uploaded on the Nepal Police website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nepal Police said the search for more than 4 thousand missing people is continuing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nepali Army, and Indian and Australian expert teams are continuing search operations at several hydropower projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":435431,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8,3,4,76,5],"tags":[],"reporter":[],"class_list":["post-435958","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-en-cover","category-english","category-en-news","category-society","category-top-stories"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/435958"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/10"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=435958"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/435958\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":435959,"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/435958\/revisions\/435959"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/435431"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=435958"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=435958"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=435958"},{"taxonomy":"reporter","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/reporter?post=435958"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
