Kathmandu: <\/strong>Eighteen schools in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts were damaged by the Bhotekoshi flash floods on August 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eleven of the schools were completely destroyed, causing an estimated loss of Rs 937 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment, RDNA, report prepared by the National Planning Commission and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, NDRRMA, a total of 56 buildings of the 18 schools were affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report said 152 rooms were partially damaged, while 156 rooms were completely destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Rasuwa, four schools were damaged \u2014 one in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality and three in Uttargaya Rural Municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Nuwakot, nine schools in Budur Municipality were affected by the floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Dhading, three school buildings in Galchhi Rural Municipality were damaged. One school in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality was also affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, four buildings of a school in Siddhalek Rural Municipality were damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government is estimated to require around Rs 4.23 billion for the reconstruction of the damaged schools.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
