Kathmandu: Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has said that all should stand united in times of disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a lamp lighting programme in memory of flood victims organized by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Kathmandu District Working Committee at Bouddhanath Stupa on Monday evening, he underscored on unity among all Nepalis in the face of the disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that the country is at present passing through a big natural disaster and crisis. Minister Shrestha said the government is seriously engaged in the search and rescue of the persons missing in the aftermath of the massive floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems on August 26, and rehabilitation of the affected people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He extended heartfelt tribute to all the Nepali and foreign citizens who lost their lives to the devastating floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government observed a national day of mourning on Monday in memory of those who died due to the floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, speaking at a separate programme today, Minister Shrestha expressed confidence that with the efforts of the government, relevant agencies, and all citizens, the country will soon come out of the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Receiving the financial aid provided to the flood victims by the Saptarangi Indreni Buddhist Community today, he mentioned that mutual cooperation, coordination, and working together help in facing crises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Shrestha also expressed his gratitude for lending a hand when the country was in trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saptarangi Indreni Buddhist Society in Swayambhu has provided financial assistance for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of citizens affected by the flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, the Society\u2019s officials contributed RS 201,101 to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. The society\u2019s president, Manik Lama, handed over the check to Minister Shrestha at the Ministry of Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On this occasion, Buddhist Lamas offered prayers with chants to help the country overcome the crisis caused by the current disaster.
