Kathmandu, July 25:<\/strong> Organised and economic crimes, along with domestic violence, emerged as the most frequently reported offences in Rupandehi over the past two months, according to data released by the District Police Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Police records for Jeth and Asar (mid-May to mid-July) show that economic offences consistently remained high, with 59 cases registered in Jeth and 58 cases in Asar. Authorities say financial crimes such as cheque bounce and online fraud are becoming increasingly challenging to control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the major crackdowns during the review period came in Asar, when police arrested six people\u2014one Nepali and five Indian nationals\u2014for allegedly printing counterfeit Nepali currency. Officers seized a printing machine and fake Rs 1,000 notes worth Rs 592,000 during the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Domestic violence also remained a serious concern. Police recorded 93 complaints in Jeth, with the number rising to 99 in Asar. Complaints involving women, senior citizens and neighbourhood disputes also featured prominently, with 72 neighbour-related disputes reported in Jeth and 63 in Asar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Overall, 182 criminal incidents were registered in Jeth, compared to 176 cases in Asar. Social offence cases declined from 52 to 21 over the two-month period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, murder-related complaints increased significantly, rising from 23 cases in Jeth to 35 in Asar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Police arrested 243 individuals in Jeth and 161 in Asar in connection with various criminal activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Deputy Superintendent of Police and Information Officer Krishna Kumar Chand said the growing number of economic crimes, particularly online fraud and cheque bounce cases, has become a major challenge for law enforcement.
