Kathmandu: <\/strong>Prime Minister Balendra Shah has asserted that the government is committed to providing possible support for the entrepreneurship development of women entrepreneurs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting with office-bearers of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, Prime Minister Shah said that the government is active in resolving problems of women entrepreneurs and building an environment to promote goods produced by them at tourism sites. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion, FWEAN representatives urged the Prime Minister to ensure a business-friendly environment, to run a special programme to take goods and services to national and international markets, as well as to participate in trade fairs, business-to-business matching and export promotion programmes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responding positively to the request made to establish the ‘ Ma Udhyami’ trademark developed by the FWEAN, Prime Minister Shah suggested introducing the trademark in the market soon. The FWEAN also demanded institutional cooperation of the government in its annual international women entrepreneur trade fair. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, the women entrepreneurs urged the government to give priority to women entrepreneurs in the public procurement process by making necessary arrangements in the Public Procurement Act and regulations, as well as to implement the provision that government offices and educational institutions should purchase goods and services of women entrepreneurs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demanding to have the participation of FWEAN, the umbrella organisation of women entrepreneurs, in the government’s policy-making and decision process, women entrepreneurs expressed commitment that FWEAN would provide skilled persons to run skill-oriented trainings at the local levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FWEAN President Darshana Shrestha shared, “Prime Minister Shah not only listened to us but also showed readiness to take immediate steps towards resolving the problems and to extend all necessary cooperation.” “We believed that the meeting with an action-oriented Prime Minister would help promote women entrepreneurship”, she underlined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussion was held on various issues, including women entrepreneurship promotion, investment and financial access expansion, enterprise-friendly policy-level reforms, skill and capacity development, innovation, digital entrepreneurship, and sustainable development of women-led enterprises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FWEAN’s First Vice-President Sunita Vaidya, General-Secretary Sabita Subedi, Secretary Dikila Lama, among others, were present on the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
