{"id":431116,"date":"2026-06-10T18:30:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T12:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/?p=431116"},"modified":"2026-06-10T18:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T12:45:12","slug":"70-years-of-ascent-of-mt-manaslu-observed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/2026\/06\/10\/431116.html","title":{"rendered":"70 years of ascent of Mt Manaslu observed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kathmandu: <\/strong>Mountaineers were honoured on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of Mt Manaslu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"353\" src=\"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/Manaslu-1-1024x353.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-431117\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/Manaslu-1-1024x353.png 1024w, https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/Manaslu-1-300x104.png 300w, https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/Manaslu-1-768x265.png 768w, https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/06\/Manaslu-1.png 1223w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chumanubri Rural Municipality of Gorkha honoured the mountaineers from Gorkha at a program organised in the federal capital here today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those honoured are Phunjo Jangmu Lama, Diki Lhamu Lama, Poornima Shrestha, Purna Bahadur Gurung, Yukta Gurung, Hari Bahadur Gurung, Ramesh Gurung, Nawaraj Gurung, Palsang Rimpoche, Sedar Rinpoche, Lama Jigme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, Nepal Mountaineering Association, National Trust for Nature Conservation, Manaslu Conservation Area Project, among others, were also honoured on the occasion, according to Nima Lama, Chairperson of Chumanubri Rural Municipality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first person to successfully reach the top of Mt Manaslu was Japanese citizen Toshio Imanishi and Indian citizen Gyalzen Norbu Sherpa on May 9, 1956. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, on April 22, 1973, Urken Tshering Sherpa became the first Nepali citizen to successfully climb Mount Manaslu. Manaslu Day is celebrated to commemorate the first ascent of Mount Manaslu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, 3,742 domestic and foreign mountaineers have reached the summit of Mount Manaslu so far. It is the eighth highest mountain in the world and the seventh highest mountain in Nepal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the event, Phunzo Sherpa, who set the world record for the fastest female climber to climb Mount Everest, the world&#8217;s highest peak, expressed concern over the impact of climate change on the mountains of Nepal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>RSS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu: Mountaineers were honoured on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of Mt Manaslu.
