Cairo, June 9:<\/strong> Nepal and Egypt have agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, education and diplomatic affairs during the second meeting of the Nepal-Egypt Bilateral Consultation Mechanism (BCM) held in Cairo on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was co-chaired by Ram Kaji Khadka, Joint Secretary and Head of the Central Asia, West Asia and Africa Division at Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Amr Hamza, Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the consultations, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over the longstanding friendship between the two countries. Nepal highlighted its investment-friendly environment and encouraged Egyptian companies to explore opportunities, particularly in agriculture and fertilizer production. It also sought greater market access for Nepali exports such as tea, coffee and pashmina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two countries exchanged views on regional and global developments and reaffirmed cooperation in multilateral forums, including the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the World Trade Organization and the World Health Organization. Nepal also appreciated Egypt’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nepal briefed the Egyptian side on recent political developments following the March 2026 election and the formation of a stable government committed to good governance, transparency and a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion, Nepal’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and Egypt’s Institute for Diplomatic Studies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation in diplomatic training, research and academic exchanges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first BCM meeting was held in Kathmandu in 2008 following the establishment of the mechanism in 2007. The next meeting will be held in Kathmandu at a mutually convenient date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
