{"id":429856,"date":"2026-05-13T12:25:21","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T06:40:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/?p=429856"},"modified":"2026-05-13T12:44:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T06:59:52","slug":"energy-minister-directs-swift-repair-probe-after-transmission-towers-collapse-disrupts-power-in-karnali","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/2026\/05\/13\/429856.html","title":{"rendered":"Energy Minister directs swift repair, probe after transmission towers collapse disrupts power in Karnali Province"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kathmandu, May 13:<\/strong> Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has directed the concerned authorities to expedite repair and investigation works after the collapse of two 132 kV transmission towers in Banke disrupted electricity supply in Karnali Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The towers, located in the Chisapani area under the Kohalpur\u2013Surkhet 132 kV transmission line, were completely damaged after trees fell on them during strong winds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the minister\u2019s secretariat, coordination is underway with the relevant offices to reconstruct the towers and restore electricity supply at the earliest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the incident, the Nepal Electricity Authority formed an investigation committee under the coordination of Grid Operation Chief Raman Raj Sharma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The authority stated that the damaged towers had been constructed by RS Infra Company. Preliminary assessments show that the tower foundations will need to be rebuilt, and repair and restoration works are estimated to take around three weeks to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the 132 kV transmission line went out of operation, electricity supply in Karnali Province has been partially restored through an alternative old 33 kV transmission line.
