{"id":429112,"date":"2026-05-01T08:18:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T02:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/?p=429112"},"modified":"2026-05-01T08:18:12","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T02:33:12","slug":"137th-international-workers-day-being-marked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/2026\/05\/01\/429112.html","title":{"rendered":"137th International Workers&#8217; Day being marked"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Kathmandu: The 137th International Workers\u2019 Day is being marked worldwide today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day has been marked since 1890 in recognition of the 1986 workers\u2019 movement that demanded respect for work in the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On this occasion, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security is organising different programmes across the country in partnership with the employers and employees, as well as the development partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All across the world, the Day is marked by organising various programmes that put pressure on the government and employers about the workers\u2019 rights, including that proper wages be respected so that they can live a decent life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Nepal, International Workers\u2019 Day is marked in relation to the workers\u2019 movement in Biratnagar in 2007 BS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the advent of the restoration of democracy in 2046, this day is given emphasis, allowing a public holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The umbrella organisation of active trade unions in Nepal, the Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre (JTUCC), is bringing all workers together to mark the Day. <strong>RSS<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu: The 137th International Workers\u2019 Day is being marked worldwide today.
