{"id":428615,"date":"2026-04-23T12:18:38","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T06:33:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/?p=428615"},"modified":"2026-04-23T12:18:39","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T06:33:39","slug":"kathmandu-valley-air-quality-turns-very-unhealthy-as-pollution-rises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/2026\/04\/23\/428615.html","title":{"rendered":"Kathmandu Valley air quality turns very unhealthy as pollution rises"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kathmandu:<\/strong> Air pollution has increased again in the Kathmandu Valley, with air quality reaching a \u201cvery unhealthy\u201d level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), pollution levels that were around 92 on Tuesday afternoon rose sharply to 247 by 11 am today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AQI level falls under the \u201cvery unhealthy\u201d category, which can have adverse health effects on the general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per AQI standards, 0\u201350 is considered \u201cgood\u201d, 51\u2013100 \u201cmoderate\u201d, 101\u2013150 \u201cunhealthy for sensitive groups\u201d, 151\u2013200 \u201cunhealthy\u201d, 201\u2013300 \u201cvery unhealthy\u201d, and above 300 \u201chazardous\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director General of the Department of Environment Gyanraj Subedi said a lack of rainfall, increasing drought, burning of agricultural residues, and forest fires have contributed to the rise in pollution.
