Birgunj (Parsa), April 22: Nepal imported goods worth Rs 694.5 billion through the Birgunj Customs Office during the first nine months of the current fiscal year, recording a 13 percent increase compared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Data from the customs office shows that imports during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year totalled Rs 613.61 billion. This indicates an increase of Rs 80.44 billion in import volume through the Birgunj checkpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Information Officer Udaya Singh Bista said the rise reflects the growing inflow of key commodities via the country\u2019s major trade gateway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the imports, petroleum products accounted for the largest share at Rs 148.16 billion, followed by iron and iron products worth Rs 62.26 billion and soybean oil valued at Rs 50.4 billion. Machinery parts and electrical goods also contributed significantly to the import figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the office, machinery imports reached Rs 49.13 billion, while electrical equipment and appliances stood at Rs 34.19 billion by the end of Chaitra, covering the first nine months of fiscal year 2082\/83 BS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, revenue collection from the customs point totalled Rs 177.66 billion during the review period, underscoring its continued importance in the country\u2019s trade and revenue system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
