Kathmandu, April 12: Nepal\u2019s Permanent Mission to the United Nations hosted a reception at the UN Headquarters in New York to mark the 263rd Nepali Army Day, alongside 68 years of Nepal\u2019s contribution to United Nations peace operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event brought together UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, ambassadors, diplomats, military and police advisers, UN officials, friends of Nepal, and former military officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the occasion, Nepal\u2019s Permanent Representative to the UN, Lok Bahadur Thapa, highlighted the long-standing legacy of the Nepali Army as one of the country\u2019s oldest institutions, built on service, sacrifice, and professionalism. He underscored its role in safeguarding national sovereignty while contributing to global peace and security through UN peacekeeping missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ambassador Thapa noted that more than 160,000 Nepali peacekeepers have served in various UN missions over the decades, reflecting Nepal\u2019s strong commitment to multilateralism and international cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
