He stressed the importance of proportional participation and fair management in all tiers of drinking water governance. \u201cWater is the basis of life, health, prosperity, and social justice. From the earliest civilizations on riverbanks to today, water has shaped human life. Conserving it is increasingly challenging but essential,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President also highlighted protecting watershed areas to recharge groundwater and promoting traditional water conservation methods, such as building ponds and lakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav called for effective state policies to ensure equitable distribution and access to water. He pointed out the declining groundwater levels in the Tarai-Madhes region and drying springs in hilly areas, urging collective action. \u201cWater conservation is not only an environmental issue but also a question of national survival and future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1993, March 22 has been observed as International Water Day by the United Nations to raise public awareness on the importance of water and its sustainable use.
