{"id":425852,"date":"2026-03-04T06:20:33","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T00:35:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/?p=425852"},"modified":"2026-03-04T06:20:34","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T00:35:34","slug":"supreme-court-issues-show-cause-order-over-detention-of-durga-prasai-and-three-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/2026\/03\/04\/425852.html","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court Issues Show-Cause Order Over Detention of Durga Prasai and Three Others"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Kathmandu, March 3<\/em> \u2014 The Supreme Court of Nepal has issued a show-cause order in connection with a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of four detainees, including medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Justice Kumar Regmi directed the authorities to submit a written explanation within 24 hours, along with a complete investigation report and clear grounds for their detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Advocate Suresh Bohara had filed the habeas corpus petition at the apex court, claiming that Prasai was being held unlawfully. Similar petitions were also lodged on behalf of Ishwar Dahal, Yukendra Shrestha and Gokul Parajuli, alleging that their detentions lacked legal justification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response, the Court has ordered the Office of the Attorney General Nepal to furnish a written reply through the Ministry of Home Affairs, Police Headquarters and the concerned police offices, clarifying the legal basis for detaining Prasai and the three others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Court\u2019s order requires the authorities to present their justification within the stipulated timeframe for further judicial review.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu, March 3 \u2014 The Supreme Court of Nepal has issued a show-cause order in connection with a habeas corpus petition filed on behalf of four detainees, including medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai.
