Solukhumbu: <\/strong>Prime Minister Sushila Karki has affirmed that elections can be held in the Himalayan and hilly districts, including Solukhumbu, on March 5 as scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During an on-site inspection of election preparations, security arrangements, and geographical challenges in Solukhumbu on Thursday, Prime Minister Karki emphasized that there is no reason to postpone the elections. He said, \u201cThere is no alternative to holding elections on March 5 to break the cycle of political instability. The government has made all necessary arrangements, keeping in mind the challenges of the Himalayan region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Karki urged voters, political parties, and candidates to have confidence that the elections will be conducted fearlessly, peacefully, fairly, and without rigging. He directed all relevant authorities to focus on ensuring a harmonious environment for the elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a briefing with the District Security Committee, he gave special instructions to create conditions where voters can cast their ballots without fear, pressure, or influence. He also emphasized that security at remote polling stations should not be compromised and directed the deployment of additional personnel if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief District Officer Leela Kumari Pandey KC presented the overall security situation, the condition of polling stations, and accessibility details. Solukhumbu has 123 polling stations, seven of which are in mountainous regions. Alternative plans have been prepared considering snowfall, climate change, and geographical risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
