Bheri Ganga (Surkhet): A women\u2019s conference held in Karnali Province on December 22-23 has issued an eight-point Surkhet declaration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Women Association for Marginalized Women (WAM) organized the two-day conference dwelling on the rights of the marginalized women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The conference advocated for policy reforms for creating a gender-responsive governance framework, promoting gender inclusion in development initiatives, and eradicating all forms of violence and discrimination against women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the event held in Birendranagar, women representatives, activists for women\u2019s rights, civil society members, and adolescents from all ten districts of the province made a collective commitment, according to Executive Director at WAM, Madhurani Dhakal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The federal, provincial, and local governments are urged to take full responsibility for implementing the gender equality and social justice provisions outlined in Nepal’s Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They concluded that gender-responsive governance was unattainable without ensuring meaningful involvement of women in policy-making, planning, budgeting, and service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the occasion, Mayor of Birendranagar Municipality, Mohanmaya Dhakal, pledged municipality’s support in creating equal opportunities for women and marginalized groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
