Kathmandu, Dec 11: The government-formed committee tasked with assessing the damage caused during the Gen-Z movement and preparing plans for rebuilding public infrastructure has submitted its report to Prime Minister Sushila Karki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Committee Coordinator and National Planning Commission Secretary Rabilal Pantha presented the report\u2019s summary at Thursday\u2019s Cabinet meeting, according to the Prime Minister\u2019s Secretariat. The committee completed its work within 75 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The assessment shows that 262 local levels across 54 districts in all seven provinces suffered losses during the protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report states that 20 people died on September 8, another 37 on September 9, and 20 more died in the days that followed. A total of 429 people were injured, including 17 children below 13 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the committee, the total physical loss stands at Rs 84.45 billion. Altogether, 2,168 institutions and bodies were affected, and 2,671 buildings were damaged, leading to losses amounting to more than Rs 39.31 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The protests also damaged 12,659 vehicles, causing losses of Rs 12.93 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The assessment further notes that government and public sector losses amounted to Rs 44.93 billion, the private sector suffered losses of Rs 33.54 billion, while community and other sectors recorded Rs 5.97 billion in damage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
