May 16, Kathmandu:<\/strong> The Embassy of Israel in Nepal hosted a grand reception on Thursday to celebrate Israel\u2019s 77th Independence Day and 65 years of diplomatic relations with Nepal. Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav graced the event as chief guest, joined by government officials, diplomats, business people, journalists and people of different walks of life.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Ambassador Shmulik Arie Bass highlighted Israel\u2019s journey of resilience, innovation, and unity, emphasising the strong bonds with Nepal since June 1, 1960. \u201cOur strength lies in our people\u2019s spirit. Together with Nepal, we aim for a better future,\u201d he said. The Ambassador informed about cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, education, health, and more, with over 4,000 Nepalis trained in Israel\u2019s agricultural programs, especially the “Learn and Earn”.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The celebration was bittersweet, with a solemn tribute to victims of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack. Videos featured survivors, including Nepali Dhan Bahadur Chaudhary and Israeli Noa Beer, while a heartfelt plea for the release of Nepali hostage Bipin Joshi made the attendees emotional.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Cultural performances by Himali Boarding School students, dressed in Israeli and Nepali attire, added vibrancy. Guests enjoyed Israeli and Nepali cuisine and an Israel-themed photo booth.
