Birgunj: District Administration Office, Parsa has begun initiatives to resolve the problems facing the child correction centre in the district.<\/p>\n
A recent meeting chaired by Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal took a 13-point decision in a bid to end anomalies in the correction centre. “The children housed in the centre are in a sorry state. Immediate measures will be taken for their rights with the help of the administration and even with the assistance from donor agencies,” he shared.<\/p>\n
The boys in the correction home had demonstrated for a while on Tuesday, posing a 22-point demand before CDO Aryal, Police Chief Gautam Mishra and other stakeholders in the district.<\/p>\n
The administration held a meeting in response to the demands and decided to provide a regular supply of drinking water from a deep borehole. It would be managed by Birgunj Metropolitan City.<\/p>\n
Similarly, Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Birgunj will be requested to manage alternative energy for regular supply of electricity at the correction centre.<\/p>\n
Birgunj Metropolitan City will install a CC camera to monitor security at centre. Similarly, District Administration Office will arrange fans. The entry of unrelated persons will not be allowed in the shelter.<\/p>\n
Those in the correction centre will be provided psychosocial counseling once in a week.<\/p>\n
As per decision, the centre is obliged to repair physical structures. The boys suffering from tuberculosis will be provided treatment with the coordination of Birgunj Metropolitan City.<\/p>\n
Moreover, the children kept in the correction centre will be provided educational materials including textbooks with the help of organizations of private school teachers, it was shared. The Metropolis will manage a teacher to the children willing to study at the shelter.<\/p>\n
