Kathmandu, Feb 18:<\/strong> National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal has called for an investigation into the death of Prakriti Lamsal, a student from Butwal studying at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University.<\/p>\n

Speaking at today’s NA meeting, Chair Dahal stated that the National Assembly was deeply concerned about the mysterious death of Lamsal. He urged the government to immediately initiate diplomatic efforts to investigate the case and ensure appropriate justice. Dahal also called on the government to create a favorable environment for other Nepali students at KIIT.<\/p>\n

During the emergency hour of the meeting, lawmakers demanded a thorough investigation into Lamsal’s death.<\/p>\n

Radhe Shyam Paswan said, “Lamsal was driven to suicide after the college administration ignored her repeated complaints, which were backed by evidence of mental torture.” He further called for an investigation into the case and urged the Nepal government to take diplomatic action to rescue stranded Nepali students.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya raised concerns that other Nepali students were being oppressed while voicing their concerns about Lamsal\u2019s death. He called for a diplomatic initiative to investigate the case and to ensure a safe environment for Nepali students at KIIT.<\/p>\n

Madan Kumari Shah condemned the denial of access to Lamsal’s relatives to view her body, describing it as unjust. She also protested the mistreatment of Nepali students by the KIIT college administration.<\/p>\n

Lawmaker Mohammad Khalid urged the government to take action to ensure the safety and protection of Nepali students studying at KIIT.<\/p>\n

Tula Prasad Bishwakarma also drew the government’s attention to Lamsal’s death at KIIT, saying, “Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal has been found dead in the hostel. It is tragic that instead of investigating the truth behind her death, the KIIT authorities resorted to coercion and suppression of Nepali students demanding a fair investigation.” He called for the government to take action to ensure a fair investigation and bring the responsible parties to justice.<\/p>\n

Lawmaker Tulasa Kumari Dahal also demanded further investigation into the death of the Nepali student at the KIIT hostel.<\/p>\n

Mistreatment of Civil Servants Condemned<\/strong>
Meanwhile, lawmakers of the upper house have expressed strong objections to the increasing cases of physical assault and mistreatment of civil servants by local-level representatives.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the Zero Hour of today’s National Assembly session, they voiced serious concerns over the insecurity faced by public employees, particularly from the very people\u2019s representatives they are supposed to work with.<\/p>\n

MP Padam Bahadur Pariyar condemned the recent attack on staff members by a people’s representative from Bandipur Municipality-6 in Tanahu district and demanded an investigation.<\/p>\n

MP Manarupa Sharma also denounced the incident and called for action against the perpetrators.<\/p>\n

MP Renu Chand urged the government to take action to end all forms of discrimination and hold accountable those responsible for such actions.<\/p>\n

Bishnudevi Pudasaini emphasized the need for better inter-agency coordination in the construction of infrastructure, including sewage, drinking water, and electricity in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n

Lawmakers Rukmini Koirala, Bishnu Kumari Sapkota, Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma, Krishna Prasad Adhikari, and Sabitri Malla stressed the importance of immediate government action to investigate the death of Prakriti Lamsal, a student from Butwal, at KIIT University in Odisha, India.<\/p>\n
