{"id":401885,"date":"2025-02-13T16:19:12","date_gmt":"2025-02-13T10:34:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/?p=401885"},"modified":"2025-02-13T16:19:12","modified_gmt":"2025-02-13T10:34:12","slug":"health-minister-paudel-insists-on-prevention-of-illness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/2025\/02\/13\/401885.html","title":{"rendered":"Health Minister Paudel insists on prevention of illness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"94\" data-end=\"252\"><strong data-start=\"94\" data-end=\"114\">Gandaki, Feb 13:<\/strong> Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, has emphasized the need for a strategy to prevent citizens from contracting diseases.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"254\" data-end=\"570\">While inaugurating a free health screening facility for non-communicable diseases launched by the Ministry for a month today in Pokhara, the Minister expressed his concern about the increasing number of patients in the country. &#8220;If this trend continues, the expected outcomes in the health sector will remain unmet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"906\">&#8220;It is crucial to implement a strategy to prevent citizens from falling ill,&#8221; he said, adding that the campaign aims to promote the government&#8217;s policy of a preventive approach to combating diseases. He highlighted the rising cases of diabetes and hypertension and stated that the campaign is expected to address this growing concern.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"908\" data-end=\"950\">The campaign will continue until March 13.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"952\" data-end=\"1240\">According to Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, individuals aged 30 and above will be provided with free tests for diabetes, hypertension, and kidney-related issues, along with measurements of body weight and height. The services will be available at local health institutions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1242\" data-end=\"1480\">Meanwhile, speaking at a program to launch the month-long free health screening campaign in Kathmandu today, Health Secretary Dr. Roshan Pokharel underscored the importance of regular health check-ups to prevent non-communicable diseases.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1482\" data-end=\"1564\">The program was organized by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1566\" data-end=\"1722\">On the occasion, Dr. Pokharel noted that cases of non-communicable diseases, often referred to as &#8216;lifestyle diseases,&#8217; have been increasing in the country.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1724\" data-end=\"1897\">According to him, the Ministry is conducting screenings for non-communicable diseases as a regular program, and local governments should give this initiative added priority.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1899\" data-end=\"2044\">EDCD Director Dr. Yadu Chandra Ghimire called for support and cooperation from all stakeholders to prevent and control non-communicable diseases.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1899\" data-end=\"2044\"><strong>RSS<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gandaki, Feb 13: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, has emphasized the need for a strategy to prevent citizens from contracting diseases.
