Kathmandu:<\/strong> Radio Nepal launched its news broadcast in the Danuwar language on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Danuwar language is spoken by the Danuwar community, predominantly living in the hilly and inner Terai regions of central and eastern Nepal.<\/p>\n

The news broadcast, scheduled for 3:15 PM from Radio Nepal\u2019s Bagmati province broadcast centre, aligns with the constitutional provision aimed at preserving languages and promoting an inclusive society. This marks the 25th language in which Radio Nepal broadcasts news.<\/p>\n

Inaugurating the ‘Danuwar Language News and Program Broadcast’ ceremony organized at Radio Nepal’s Central\u00a0 Office in Singhadurbar, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said Radio Nepal has further cemented its position as a common platform for inclusive broadcasting with the launch of news in Danuwar language.<\/p>\n

He stressed making the broadcasting sector more systematic and organized. Reflecting upon the efforts underway to merge Radio Nepal and Nepal Television into Public Service Broadcasting (PSB), the Communication Minister said efforts were needed from all sides to make the broadcasting sector more inclusive.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Koshi Province Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Srijana Danuwar said Radio Nepal had accomplished a vital role in uniting all ethnicities and languages by starting the broadcasting in the Danuwar language.<\/p>\n

On the same occasion, Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Radhika Aryal, said the broadcasting in Danuwar language added another brick to the inclusiveness and diversity of Nepal.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Executive Director of Radio Nepal Amar Dhoj Lama said Radio Nepal had been making its broadcasting more inclusive by targeting and reaching out to all ethnicities, classes and communities to give people the right to information.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the Chairperson of the Language Commission Dr. Gopal Thakur said Radio Nepal and the Commission could collaborate to accomplish significant works to promote other languages, scripts and cultures.<\/p>\n

General Secretary of the Danuwar Jagaran Committee, Chet Narayan Danuwar said Radio Nepal played a remarkable role in preserving the endangered language and spreading awareness.<\/p>\n
