{"id":357900,"date":"2023-06-30T20:31:52","date_gmt":"2023-06-30T14:46:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onlineradionepal.gov.np\/en\/?p=357900"},"modified":"2023-07-01T06:48:51","modified_gmt":"2023-07-01T01:03:51","slug":"lalita-niwas-land-scam-sc-issues-order-to-show-cause-over-habeas-corpus-writ","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/2023\/06\/30\/357900.html","title":{"rendered":"Lalita Niwas land scam: SC issues order to show cause over habeas corpus writ"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"980\" height=\"445\" src=\"https:\/\/onlineradionepal.gov.np\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/05\/supreme_Court_sankalpa-khaabr-e1624959121962.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-354400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/05\/supreme_Court_sankalpa-khaabr-e1624959121962.png 980w, https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/05\/supreme_Court_sankalpa-khaabr-e1624959121962-300x136.png 300w, https:\/\/radionepalonline.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/05\/supreme_Court_sankalpa-khaabr-e1624959121962-768x349.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kathmandu: The Supreme Court on Friday issued an order to show cause in regard with a writ of habeas corpus registered by three arrestees over the Lalita Niwas land procurement scam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to SC Spokesperson Bimal Paudel, the apex court conducted a hearing on the writ on Friday and issued the show-cause order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Former election commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah, Bhatbhateni Supermarket Franchise proprietor Min Bahadur Gurung and Inland Revenue Office&#8217;s former employee Dharma Prasad Gautam had registered a writ of habeas corpus on Thursday at the apex court.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They were arrested on June 27 along with another alleged in the land-grabbing scam, Gopal Karki.&nbsp; They were presented before the Kathmandu District Court on June 29 and the court allowed the police to continue investigations against them by keeping in custody for seven days.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, police decided to release three accused Kaladhar Deuja, Surendraman Kapali and Hupendra Mani KC after completing required paper works as they were found possessing the Supreme Court&#8217;s stay order against their arrests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interim order by the Supreme Court asks the authorities to investigate the matter keeping them out of custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police said they are conducting a &#8216;special operation&#8217; in connection with the infamous Lalita Niwas land-grab scandal.
