Rain-inducing system shifting towards east, people urged to adopt precautions

Kathmandu: Moderate rain coupled with lightning and thunder is currently taking place in different districts of Lumbini, Karnali, Bagmati, Madhesh, and Koshi Provinces.

According to a meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Rojin Lamichhane, people have been requested to adopt necessary precautions to remain protected from possible risks, as the rain-inducing system is shifting towards the east and there is a possibility of rainfall, lightning, and thunder.

Currently, there is a partial influence of a westerly low-pressure system (trough) in the upper atmosphere and local winds in the country, added Lamichhane.

“Different types of clouds are developing in different places of the country depending on local conditions,” he shared.

Tonight, generally to partly cloudy weather has been forecast in mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces as well as mountainous regions of Karnalia nd Sudurpaschim Provinces, according to the Department.

However, the weather in the Tarai regions of Sudurpaschim Province would remain mainly fair. Light rainfall along with lightning and thunder is likely at a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, as well as at one or two places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

There is also a possibility of light snowfall in the Himalayan regions, added the Department.
