Revenue collection rises by 11.33 percent in FY 2081/082
Kathmandu: Nepal’s revenue collection in fiscal year 2081/082 reached Rs. 1,178.82 billion, an increase of Rs. 120 billion—or 11.33 percent—compared to the previous fiscal year.
In FY 2080/081, total revenue stood at Rs. 1,058 billion. Although the initial target for FY 2081/082 was set at Rs. 1,419 billion, it was later revised to Rs. 1,286 billion during the mid-term review. Based on the revised figure, the government has achieved 91.60 percent of the target.
Uttar Kumar Khatri, Chief of the Revenue Division at the Ministry of Finance, said that despite challenges caused by natural disasters and global economic conditions, revenue collection was encouraging. He added that preparations are already underway to meet the revenue target for the current fiscal year.
For FY 2082/083, the government has set a revenue collection target of Rs. 1,315 billion.
Historical data shows steady growth in revenue collection over the years. It stood at Rs. 455 billion in FY 2071/072, Rs. 481 billion in 2072/073, Rs. 699 billion in 2073/074, Rs. 726 billion in 2074/075, and Rs. 829 billion in 2075/076. It slightly dropped to Rs. 793 billion in 2076/077, before rising to Rs. 935 billion in 2077/078, Rs. 1,066 billion in 2078/079, Rs. 957 billion in 2079/080, and Rs. 1,058 billion in 2080/081.
