Nepali local government authorities in Israel for Muni Expo 2025 to gain insights on urban management and local governance
July 14, Kathmandu: Israel has aimed at supporting Nepal’s local governance by sharing expertise in smart city technologies, sustainable urban planning, and crisis management systems.
In this regard, a 14-member delegation from Nepal is in Israel to participate in Muni Expo 2025, Israel’s premier annual event organised by the Federation of Local Governments, according to a press release from the Embassy of Israel.
Held from July 15-17, the conference, themed “Local Compass”, will focus on crisis response, local-national coordination, and combating antisemitism. This marks the first time a Nepali delegation, including senior officials from the Ministry of Urban Development, National Planning Commission, and mayors from various municipalities, will engage in a targeted program on municipal innovation and urban resilience.
Muni Expo, Israel’s largest event of its kind, convenes mayors, municipal leaders, and policymakers worldwide. The Nepali delegation will connect with over 150 Israeli and international companies and startups, explore innovative municipal projects, and foster global partnerships.

Beyond the conference, the delegation will visit key sites, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Yad Vashem- the World Holocaust Remembrance Centre, Shafdan Wastewater Treatment Facility, Municipal Innovation Centre, and the Police Station in Sderot.
These visits will showcase Israel’s advanced urban management technologies and infrastructure solutions.
The delegation will also visit the Nova festival site, where Hamas terrorists killed hundreds, including 10 Nepali nationals at Kibbutz Alumim, on October 7, 2023. Hamas and other terror groups currently hold 50 hostages, including Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi.
