Home Minister Lekhak directs security agencies to work for free and fair by-election
November 19, Kathmandu: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has assured that the upcoming local by-election on December 1st will be conducted in a free and fair manner.
Minister Lekhak emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the electoral process was peaceful and lawful.
While inaugurating the Sudurpaschim province-level security conference in Dhangadhi of Kailali, Minister Lekhak directed the security agencies to make necessary preparations for maintaining law, order and security during the upcoming by-election.
He stressed the importance of taking immediate action to control activities that could disturb law and order, ensuring that citizens should experience a sense of freedom and security during the election.
Saying that the Sudur Paschim province shares borders with both China and India, Minister Lekhak stressed the importance of strengthening border security, controlling drug trafficking, and preventing human trafficking.
He assured that additional measures would be taken to improve overall security in these areas.
Furthermore, Home Minister Lekhak also mentioned that the preparation of new laws concerning the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force is nearing completion and will soon be presented in Parliament.
The meeting saw the participation of the Chief Minister (CM) of Sudur Paschim province Kamal Bahadur Shah, and other high-level dignitaries of the province.
The meeting aims to discuss security situations and strategies to enhance the province’s security.
