Utilize party-affiliated foundation for party purpose: Chair Oli

Lalitpur, Aug 11: Chairman of the CPN UML and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said any institution and foundation running under the party must serve party interest and movement.

Chairman Oli said it during a programme organized for administering the oath of office to newly elected Chairman of the Madan-Ashrit Memorial Foundation, Pradip Gyawali, here Monday.

Also the patron of the Foundation, Chairman Oli viewed the foundation and organization established after iconic leaders must not be made a cash cow.

“The Foundation was set up with the decision taken on May 22, 1993 to advance the thoughts of ‘people’s multi-party democracy’ following the demise of then General Secretary of the Party, Madan Bhandari, and Chief of the Organization Department, Jivraj Ashrit,” Oli reminded, adding that the Foundation and its leadership, however, lost the dedication to the party movement.

Such organizations need to be loyal to the party so that they would not involve in the anti-party activities, according to him.

Moreover, he urged the new leadership to work on the fronts of social study, human awareness and discipline.

UML Deputy General Secretary Gyawali was elected the Chairman of the Foundation from its 31st general convention on August 8 after the demise of then Chairman Pradip Nepal on May 6, 2025.
