Nepalis stranded in Kerung to be repatriated

Rasuwa: Nepali citizens stranded in Kerung following the destruction of the Nepal-China Friendship Bridge by a flood on July 8 are set to be repatriated soon.

According to Chief District Officer Arjun Paudel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally requested the Chinese government to facilitate the return of around 1,200 stranded individuals. In the meantime, Chinese authorities have arranged food and accommodation for the affected Nepalis in Kerung.

Among those stranded are 91 vehicle drivers and their assistants. Additionally, 117 Nepalis who had been residing in the area for various purposes have approached the Chief District Officer seeking assistance for their return.

Efforts are now underway to ensure the safe repatriation of all those affected.
